Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says they will not underestimate Cape Verde when the two sides square off in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final on Saturday.
South Africa advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition after they secured a 2-0 win over Morocco thanks to goals from Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena at the Stade Laurent Pokou on Tuesday.
Cape Verde, meanwhile, progressed after they claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Mauritania following a late penalty by Ryan Mendes at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Monday.
Bafana will now face off against Cape Verde in the quarter-finals when the two sides meet at the Stade de Yamoussoukro on Saturday.
Broos says he was pleased with his side’s display against a very unpredictable Morocco outfit but was delighted with the outcome of the match.
“We came here with the first aim of getting out of our group,” said Broos.
“We were delighted to do that but you can’t be certain of going any further when you come up against Morocco.
“On Saturday we will once again be playing against a dangerous team and we can’t make the mistake of underestimating them.”
