Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos believes his side deserves the win following their stellar performance against Zimbabwe.
South Africa secured a crucial 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe in their FIFA World Group C encounter at the Free State Stadium on Tuesday.
Iqraam Rayners opened the scoring for Bafana while Thapelo Morena bagged a brace to secure all three points and the win on home soil.
The win sees Bafana move up to second place in the Group C standings with seven points from three games, while Zimbabwe are at the bottom of the group with two points from four matches.
Broos admits they were frustrated in the first half but after his half time team talk Bafana came out a better side and overcame Zimbabwe
“Yes there was frustration because we started off really well, very soon in the first half it was 1-0 but two minutes ahead it was 1-1, we were a little bit shaked by the goal of Zimbabwe and we went too much down so we give them space and a few times they were dangerous,” Broos told SABC Sport after the match.
“So we corrected a few things during half time, you saw another South African team second half with good football, many chances and I think we deserved the victory.
“We were thinking there should be some pressure from Zimbabwe for the last five, six minutes, maybe we should have done other changes but now okay the game was finished, 3-1 the score was there and I think Relebohile (Mofokeng) deserved to play to get his first cap and I think he is very happy with it,” he concluded.
