Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos believes his side did not play their best game despite claiming the victory over South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.
South Africa managed to secure a thrilling 3-2 win over South Sudan at the Juba Stadium thanks to a brace by Oswin Appollis and a late goal from Thalente Mbatha.
The win sees Bafana move up to second place in the group K standings with four points after two games, while South Sudan remain at the bottom of the table with zero points from two matches.
Broos is delighted to have secured the victory but believes his side should have won by a bigger margin.
“I thank the good Lord upstairs, he was with us in this game, and also against Uganda (in the 2-2 draw last Friday),” Broos said.
“But we played better against Uganda, today we didn’t really play our best game.
“We should have done better. If we had done better, I think the score should not be 3-2, but maybe 5-2 or something for South Africa.”
