Orlando Pirates forward Zakhele Lepasa insists that he would like to be the answer to Bafana Bafana scoring crisis ahead of their opening Cosafa Cup clash against Botswana on Saturday.

The 22-year-old has had an outstanding season while on loan at TS Galaxy after helping them become the first National First Division (NFD) outfit to win the Nedbank Cup trophy, while winning the Player of the Tournament in the process.

Lepasa, who played a crucial role in helping Galaxy qualify for the Caf Confederations Cup, says he is relishing the chance to help the South African national team do well in the regional tournament.

‘I believe I have an eye for goals, and as much as I was very nervous to join Bafana Bafana, I am managing the load very well. I want to be the answer to the national crisis we have had when it comes to converting the many chances we create We have had two training sessions, which have gone better than I expected, and I am happy at how well the players in the camp have received me,’ Lepasa told the media.

‘I am a living testimony that football is an amazing life lesson which shows how quickly life can change. Since winning the Nedbank Cup I am recognised everywhere we go.

‘This is a great honour for me, and I hope to play a part in ensuring that Bafana Bafana does well in the COSAFA Cup.’

The South African Senior Men’s National Team will play a practice match against Zambia as part of their preparations for the Cosafa Cup quarter-final encounter against Botswana at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday with kick off set for 3pm.
