Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki has praised his side for banding together to earn a 1-1 draw against Egypt in their CHAN qualifier on Sunday.

Egypt opened the scoring in the 66th minute through Mohamed Hassan Hashem Abdelaal, but Jamie Webber scored an equal goal with a stunning striker in the 80th minute at the Free State Stadium.

Bafana will now take on the Egyptians in the second leg when the two sides meet at the Suez Canal Stadium in Egypt on Sunday.

Ntseki was proud of his side’s performance but felt they should have won the game and go with a positive result into the second leg.

“The structure for me is everything because when you have the structure, it means everybody understands their roles and functions within the game, whether in possession or out of possession,” Ntseki said.

“The boys did very well in terms of performance, but the final result was not that pleasing knowing very well that we still have to go to Egypt in the second leg.

“We saw how they conducted themselves, especially after scoring, when they were playing for time.

“Personally, I’ve played too many games against Egypt in the junior teams and also in the senior teams.”
