Mabasa named in Cosafa Cup Team of the Tournament

Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has been named in the 2023 Cosafa Cup Team of the Tournament.

The 26-year-old claimed the top goal scorer award at the tournament alongside Zambian forward Albert Kangwanda after they both scored three goals in the competition.

The Orlando Pirates striker opened his account against Eswatini when he bagged a brace to help South Africa come from behind and secure a 2-1 victory in their final Group A encounter.

Mabasa continued his scoring form in the semi-finals when he scored Bafana’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Zambia.

Despite not making it into the final, the Botshabelo-born striker played a crucial role in helping South Africa secure the bronze medal at the Cosafa Cup tournament.
