Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha is looking forward to finding his best form while playing for Bafana Bafana in the 2018 Cosafa Cup.

The 23-year-old was recently named in Stuart Baxter’s 20-man squad for the upcoming Cosafa Cup tournament which takes place in Polokwane.

Madisha admits his dip in form was due to the death of his sister, despite claiming the Absa Premiership title with Sundowns during the 2017-18 campaign.

‘In my career, some of the moments where I was playing my best football were with the junior national teams, so playing at international level again will be good for me,’ Madisha told Sowetan Live.

‘At club level, I know it was not my best season but as you know, we had a death in the family and it was not easy. But at least we won the league title and I will come back better and stronger next season.’

The Bafana Bafana defender says he is relishing the opportunity to represent the South African national team while developing as a player.

‘The tournament will be playing not far from home so that will be a plus for me,’ he added.

‘I will be playing in front of my home fans where I will be free and confident to express myself. Any opportunity to represent the national team is a chance to learn and grow.’

Bafana Bafana will enter the Cosafa Cup in the quarter-final where they will take on the winners of Group A – consisting of Madagascar, Mozambique, Comoros and Seychelles.

The Cosafa Cup final will be held at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, 9 June.
