Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu has talked up the significance of his side’s clash against Burkina Faso on Saturday.
The tie is South Africa’s first 2018 World Cup qualifier and they will be looking to make positive start having failed to feature in Brazil two years ago.
Bafana have not qualified for a World Cup since 2002, having made the cut automatically as hosts in 2010, while their last visit to Ouagadougou back in 2006 qualifying ended a painful 3-1 defeat.
‘Obviously we want to qualify and it is a very important tournament and everyone is looking forward to it,’ Mahlangu told the media, reports KickOff.
‘We just want to go there do well for the country and for ourselves and make our family proud, our fans and of course our country proud. So we are going there to get the result,’ the midfielder explained.
Mahlangu, who has been in and out of the Bafana squad recently, has insisted he takes pride from representing his country.
‘I have been in the national team in and out and I’m happy to see the love that I’m getting in the South Africa,’ he concluded.
The clash between the pair will take place at the Stade du 4 Aou Stadium.
The action gets underway at 20:00.
