Bafana Bafana’s Shakes Mashaba will have to answer to Safa when the coach and organisation come face-to-face in September.
Bafana has endured a poor Afcon qualifying campaign under Mashaba’s guidance thus far, having won just one of five matches, meaning they no longer stand a chance of qualifying for the showpiece tournament.
Safa president Danny Jordaan has now confirmed the coach will need to produce a detailed report on the side’s failings, as Jordaan believes the side should have easily achieved qualification.
‘I think it is only proper that we address this matter speedily immediately after the Mauritania match,’ Jordaan told Daily Sun.
‘We expect a fully detailed report that will explain everything – from the first match we drew (0-0) against Gambia and including the 3-1 defeat to Mauritania. Those matches cost us a place at the Afcon finals,’ he explained.
The president was also dissatisfied with the side’s showing against Cameroon.
‘Furthermore, I thought we were going to walk all over Cameroon in the two matches in March, but we ended up collecting two points out of a possible six in the two matches,’ he continued.
‘We cannot sit back when things are not going according to plan,’ Jordaan concluded.
