Angola got off to a bright start with Ary Papel threatening down the right in the opening exchanges of the match.
Bafana Bafana gradually gained their rhythm and came close to opening the scoring in the 10th minute after Phakamani Mahlambi and Percy Tau combined play but he opted to square the ball back instead of taking a shot at goal.
Mahlambi and Tau were both given opportunities at goal when they were played through on goal but a lack of composure in front of goal let them down as the match remained level at goalless.
Bafana goalkeeper Dareen Keet came to his side’s rescue when he made a fine save to deny Herenilson in the 39th minute of the match.
Bafana dominated proceedings in the second half but struggled to break down the Angolan defence as they went in search of the opener.
The visiting side were comfortable enough to sit back and absorb the pressure from South Africa.
Bafana striker Kermit Erasmus had n opportunity to seal the game when Mphahlele intercepted the ball from the out-rushing goalkeeper but the striker failed to get his shot away as the attack amounted to nothing.
Defender Rivaldo Coetzee had a golden opportunity to clinch the win in the last minute of the match but his headed effort was tipped over the bar by Angolan shot-stopper Adilson Neblu.
