Mobara eyes Cosafa glory, Rio spot

Bafana Bafana defender Abbubaker Mobara insisted that his only focus is to help his side clinch the Cosafa Cup title, despite an imminent move to Orlando Pirates.

Orlando Pirates have announced on Tuesday that the club has reached an agreement with Ajax Cape Town for the services of duo Abbubaker Mobara and Riyaad Norodien.

The 22-year-old defender insisted that his only focus is on helping Bafana Bafana win the Cosafa Cup and to fight for a place in the U23 squad who depart for the Rio Olympic games in August.

‘I would rather not talk about that [Pirates move], as I am not allowed to talk about until the deal is done,’ Mobara told Goal.

‘My focus right now is here [Bafana]. I want to help the team win the Cosafa Cup and also convince the coaches to take me with to Rio [Olympics].

‘I don’t think it [Pirates move] will distract me, not at all. I know what is at stake and it is the pride of my nation,” he added.

During his four seasons for the Urban Warriors Mobara has appeared 87 times and only scored two goals.
