For the first time since the coronavirus outbreak, football fans in South Africa will be back in the stadium for Bafana Bafana’s clash with Ethiopia – but supporters will have to follow some ground rules.

It was announced on Monday that 2,000 supporters will be allowed into the FNB Stadium for South Africa’s World Cup qualifying clash with Ethiopia on Tuesday.

Tickets sold out quickly as fans clamoured to get back to live football, but those lucky enough to attend will have to follow a set of rules put in place by Stadium Management SA.

Fans will be required to produce their ticket, ID and vaccination proof to gain access to the stadium and will have to abide by a certain set of rules inside the ground.

Fans will have to be over the age of 18 and will not be permitted to bring vuvuzelas into the ground with alcohol also prohibited.

It may be different to the past but fans and players alike will no doubt be overjoyed that the process of establishing some ‘new normal’ has begun.
