Bafana Bafana defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has called upon the senior players to play the important role of sharing their experience with the younger players in the squad.
The 28-year-old was recently called up to the South African national team by coach Stuart Baxter for their upcoming Four Nations Tournament taking place in Zambia.
A new generation of players has been ushered into the Bafana Bafana squad including the likes of Siphesihle Ndlovu, Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and Reeve Frosler, who are set to play a big role in the future of the national team.
Mphahlele has urged the senior players of the national team to share their knowledge and experience with the youngsters in the squad to help ease the pressure that comes with representing your country.
‘We have a very important role that we are playing and we need to ensure that we do it to our utmost best. These boys are the future national team and it is vitally important that we share our knowledge and experience with them,’ Mphahlele told Safa.net.
‘They may be playing on a regular basis at club level but playing for your nation comes with a lot of pressure and we need to be there for them at all times.’
Bafana Bafana will take on Angola in their opening fixture at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off set for 15:00.
