South Africa’s men’s Olympic team will play a practice match against the Brazilian Police Department in Brasilia.
Coach Owen Da Gama believes that they will be able to reach their objectives with the practice match, set for Friday, 29 July at Minas Tenis Clube.
‘We would have loved to play another country, and we did try to arrange with other countries, however, they were not available. We also made enquiries with local clubs but nothing came of it,’ said Da Gama.
We will play the police team in order to accomplish our objectives, which are, to firstly assist the players in getting the feel of the high tempo, and, secondly, to acclamatise to the conditions of a real match situation.’
The match kicks off is at 15:00 SA time.
