Ajax Amsterdam and Bafana Bafana star Thulani Serero was absent as his club began pre-seasons preparations following a knee injury he picked up on international duty.
Serero lasted just 25 minutes of Bafana Bafana’s 4-0 thrashing of Gambia on June 4 and is yet to fully recover in time for the club’s training camp in Austria.
The midfielder is also believed to be on the lookout for a new club, as he has just a year remaining on his Ajax contract.
With Serero likely to face stiff competition for a starting role next season it may prove in the best interest of both the player and the club to sell the player now, as Serero could leave the side on a free the following term.
Serero has started 88 games for Ajax since he joined the club back in 2011 following an excellent season for Ajax Cape Town.
Now 26-years of age, the player saw his opportunities limited under Frank de Boer last term, while he has also been handicapped by injuries in recent seasons.
