Royale-Union Saint Gilloise striker Percy Tau believes Bafana Bafana has the quality and experience to qualify for next year’s African Cup of Nations.
Following his move to Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion, Tau was loaned out to the Belgium second-tier side until the end of the current season.
Having already scored two goals and assisted a further four from eight appearances in all competitions for Union, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star says he has been enjoying his time in Belgium – already helping his side progress in the Beker van Belgie Cup while maintaining top spot in the Proximus League.
‘All is well in Belgium. We are on top of the log at the moment. We have had good performances in the cup and league and I believe that we are beginning to get stronger as a team,’ Tau told Safa.net.
‘People will always have opinions on things and they are entitled to that. I am happy with this path I have chosen [agreeing to go on loan to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise] because I have done it before and things worked out in my favour.
‘I once went out on loan to Witbank Spurs and things worked out pretty well for me later on’
Tau will be looking to lead the line for Bafana Bafana when they come up against Seychelles in back-to-back fixtures in the Afcon qualifiers in the hope of progressing to the next round.
‘We still have about four matches remaining to be played. We are second on the log as we speak. The only thing that is left for us to do is win our remaining matches,’ he added.
‘And that is what this team wants. We want to qualify for next year’s Afcon. We have what it takes to qualify.’
