Mamelodi Sundowns in-form midfielder Percy Tau is in ‘no rush’ to earn his first call-up to the South African national team.
The 22-year-old has been in inspiring form this season, scoring two goals and assisting a further four from 12 appearances in all competitions so far.
The attacking midfielder gave a man-of-the-match performance against Highlands Park by netting a goal and creating three assists in his side’s 5-0 victory.
Tau won’t rush his way into earning a national team call-up and believes a few areas of his game need to improve.
‘I can’t rush it. I still look at my game and still there are a few things to improve,’ Tau said.
‘I don’t want to put myself under any pressure, there are still a lot of things to improve in my game. I will get better at the international [level].
‘Also, competing in CAF gave me that international level experience and I will get better. The time will come [for me to play for Bafana Bafana].’
Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping their form continues in the Absa Premiership when they take on Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday.
The match at Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
