Bafana Bafana duo Percy Tau and Bongani Zungu insists that the team will play to their full potential when they take on Morocco in their final African Cup of Nations Group D encounter on Monday.
Stuart Baxter’s men claimed their first win at the 2019 Afcon after securing a 1-0 victory over Namibia on Friday evening.
The South African national team will head into their final Group D clash in third place, level on three points with second place Ivory Coast.
Bafana will need to avoid defeat against Morocco at the Al Salam Stadium in order to book their place in the knockout stages of the tournament.
Tau, who was named Man of the Match, believes that Bafana are starting to come together and that their performance continues to improve at the African continental tournament.
‘It was a tough game but we are work in process and we are taking game by game and hopefully we will get the result we would like to have in the last match against Morocco,’ Tau said after the game.
‘I think overall it was a better game than the one against Ivory Coast (which Bafana Bafana lost 1-0). The positives are that this time we converted one of our chances. In fact, we created lots of chances but unfortunately we could not take most of them.
‘Hopefully on a better day we will able to take most of the chances that we create.’
His sentiments were echoed by midfielder Bongani Zungu, who netted the winning against the Brave Warriors.
‘Happy with the three points and I hope we can get better and better from here going forward and play some good football,’ Zungu said.
‘Even in the first half, we played good football but we knew they would be dangerous on the counter attacks but in the second half, we stepped up our game and we were confident that the goal would come.
‘The Morocco game (on Monday) would be a tough game but we are determined to get the result and qualify for the next round.’
