The South African national team are set to take on Angola at the Buffalo City Stadium, having only lost to them once out of 13 meeting between the two sides.
The 27-year-old says that the squad are fully focused and motivated as they prepare for their final friendly match before their World Cup qualifiers.
‘We are all excited going to the next game following a win on Saturday. Everyone is motivated. It is a new game and Saturday’s result is in the past, we are fully focused on the next one,’ Thopola told the Chippa United website.
Thopola continued to say that the national team received a warm welcome from their supporters in East London on their arrival on Sunday.
‘People in East London and surrounding areas are passionate about football, having been here with Chippa United a number of times,’ He added.
‘You could see at the airport what it means to have the national team playing here after so many years. It was heart-warming to get such a welcome.’
The Chippa United vice-captain has also been sharing the experience in East London with his Bafana teammates; A few of them have been asking about the vibe at our games, so I have been sharing a lot with them ahead of the game.
The Chippa United vice-captain went on to say that with the backing of the fans at the Buffalo City Stadium, it will give Bafana Bafana the confidence to take a positive result from the match.
‘I told them that the stadium will be packed and they will be backing us from the first minute, and all we have to do is to give our all on the pitch,’ Thopola concluded.
Bafana Bafana will now take on Angola in their second international friendly match on Tuesday.
The match at the Buffalo City Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
