Thursday presents an opportunity for throwback to when Bafana Bafana faced England in an international friendly at Old Trafford in 1997.

The first goal of the match came courtesy of England midfielder Robert Lee, who scored in the 21st minute, despite some good work by Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Andre Arendse.

South Africa found the equalising goal in the 43rd minute when John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu lobbed the ball over English goalkeeper Nigel Martyn to set up Phil Masinga, who was well positioned to head the ball into the back of the net.

England went on to win the match 2-1 on home soil after striker Ian Wright handed his side the victory in the 75th minute.
