AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Veli Mothwa is confident that Hugo Broos’ youthful national team squad can qualify for the 2022 Fifa World Cup without losing a game.
Broos’ team got their qualifying campaign off to a positive start with a 0-0 away draw with Zimbabwe and a 1-0 home win over Ghana to top the group after two games.
The side will now face off against Ethiopia in back-to-back qualifiers, where two wins would put them in control of the group.
Mothwa, speaking in the buildup to the matches, revealed that despite their inexperience the young Bafana squad are feeling confident.
“I feel confident with everything happening right now, these two games we’ve played, we drew against Zimbabwe and won against Ghana, when last did we won against them? 2002? That’s long,” Mothwa told media.

“I think going to Ethiopia we are confident that we can go all there and win, we can finish the group without a loss because now everyone in the team wants to go to the World Cup.
“If you check, the squad is a bunch of young and hungry players, they have desire to win any game.”
