Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena says he doesn’t want to get involved with issues to do with Bafana Bafana, adding that he can’t question the selections of a coach who has proven his pedigree and is currently doing well.
The Downs co-coach made media headlines in recent weeks as he seemingly hit out at the lack of training data used in the set-up, which resulted in a number of players returning to their clubs with injuries.
Broos, however, has enjoyed a successful start to his reign as the South African national team coach and is clearly determined to do it his way, having left out a number of star players including some big names from Chloorkop.
Mokwena, though, has thrown his support behind the Belgian coach, who he believes is one of the best on the continent.
“I don’t want to get involved with this Bafana Bafana issue. I think the national team coach has done exceptionally well. I mean we have one of the best on the African continent with Hugo Broos,” Mokwena said, speaking to media at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“He has won the Afcon with Cameroon, so who am I to question his selection, to tell him who to select in the national team? He has experience and knows which team to use. For us, it’s to support him as long as our players return from the national team injury free.”
