Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams hopes his recent triumph with SuperSport United will rub off on the national team.
The 27-year-old shotstopper recently lifted the 2019 MTN8 trophy with SuperSport after beating Highlands Park 1-0 in the final at the Orlando Stadium.
Williams is confident that the national team can claim silverware against Mali in the Nelson Mandela Challenge on Sunday.
‘Apart from a few of the guys that are injured, the camp has been fine, the structure is there, and the guys that are coming in they’ve gelled easily with the team. We made it easy for them to adapt and the coach made it easy as well; he didn’t come in to try and change a lot. It is standard and we all are professional, we know why we are here so it is all up to us to listen to the coach,’ Williams told Safa.
‘There are a few of us with high confidence. I am happy for someone like Bradley Grobler who had his problems, but this season he started well – he’s banging in goals, so hopefully our triumph this past week can inspire the guys, we are a small team in South Africa but every season we are challenging and hopefully it can rub off on the [national] team. ‘
