Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has sent a message of support to Burnley striker Lyle Foster after his club announced he is taking time away from football to deal with his mental health issues.
The 23-year-old has revealed that he will be taking some time away from football to deal with his mental well-being despite his form for Burnley so far this season.
As a result, Foster withdrew from his duties with the national team for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
Williams has urged South Africans and members of the media to show their support towards Foster as he deal with his mental health.
“We miss Lyle and know he won’t be here, but we send out our thoughts and prayers,” Williams told Safa.
“He should know that we back him and we are behind him.”
