Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu would like to secure a move away from French club Amiens SC to England or Spain, after his side was relegated to Ligue 2 following the decision to cancel the Ligue 1 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man almost secured a move to Spain and LaLiga when Real Mallorca came in bidding for him during the January transfer window.
The move fell through at the final stages and Zungu stayed in France to battle relegation with Amiens.
Since then, though, the world has been hit by the coronavirus pandemic and with countries around the world in lockdown, France decided to suspend all sporting activities which led to the cancellation of football in the country.
As a result, Paris St Germain were announced as 2019-20 champions, while Zungu’s team were unfortunately relegated.
While the decision is expected to be challenged in court, Zungu told GetFrenchFootballNews that the club understand that he wants to leave and spread his wings.
‘I think the club understands and they know that I’m looking to spread my wings, to get a new challenge, and to be honest, I’m ready for that,’ said Zungu.
‘But you don’t know what the future holds. I love the club; the president is amazing, and the fans … but personally I would like to move on with my career and, hopefully, it happens.
‘I would love to play in Spain, in LaLiga. I think the league is nice, the teams play football and, yeah, I would like to hopefully get a club in Spain,’ he added.
‘Honestly, I don’t know if you heard … I almost left in January. I would like to play in the Champions League or maybe one day play in England. I don’t know, you never know! So, play in the Champions League, play in England or in LaLiga in one of the big teams.’
