Banyana Banyana coach Vera Pauw’s future with the side remains unclear following the submission of her report on the side’s Rio 2016 group stage exit.

The side’s elimination from the tournament had been confirmed after just two matches following successive defeats to gold medal finalists Sweden and China.

Banyana, like their men’s U23 counterparts, were unable to record a win in Brazil despite holding the impressive Brazilians to a stalemate.

‘I would like to inform members of the media and the public that after the return of Banyana Banyana from the Rio Olympics, we requested coach Vera Pauw to compile an extensive report detailing where we came from and where this team is going; and she has done so,’ Safa CEO Dennis Mumble reported to Safa.net.

‘It is a normal progress report that will give us a direction on the next step, and while we have received her report, we cannot pronounce much with regards to the future of the coach and other developments.’

Pauw was instated as Banyana coach back in March 2014 and appears to have raised the standard of play of the side despite their failure to produce results when it has mattered most.
