Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk is proud of the progress her side has made as they bid to prepare for Rio 2016.
Banyana are currently in the United States where they will continue their preparations with a clash against the reigning Olympic and World Champions.
Van Wyk believes that despite the magnitude of the side’s next challenge, the fixture presents a massive opportunity.
‘We have been talking about how much it is a dream come true for all of us as this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity, something we will never forget,’ she told Safa.net.
‘We are extremely focused and looking forward to this match.’
The fixture, set for Saturday, will be the first ever meeting between the sides.
‘For us it is not so much about the result, yes we want to win, but we also have to look at the bigger picture. If we get a good result against the USA it will give us a huge confidence going to Rio,’ the skipper added.
‘We have to be grateful for we got, we have to give huge thanks to SAFA and Sasol for making it all possible, and of course our coach for believing in us.’
The clash between the sides will take place at Soldier Field, Illinois.
Kick-off is at 19:00.
