Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes that the rest of the 2019-20 PSL season will be completed despite leagues across the world being scrapped due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Netherlands, Belgium and France have all decided to call an end to the 2019-20 season due to the effects of the spread of the virus, while leagues in England, Spain and Germany remain desperate to get back on the field and finish the campaign.
With a number of matches still to go in the Absa Premiership, Hunt believes that there is still time to wait to make a sensible decision.
‘There’s plenty of time, the Netherlands rushed their decision. They have done something that’s unnecessary, honestly,’ Hunt told Isolezwe.
‘They have started something that will lead more countries to follow them while there’s a chance [to finish the season].’
‘They were supposed to wait like all of us around the world, not to make a decision without thinking properly,’ he continued.
‘Don’t even think that the PSL season will not be completed. There’s no doubt that the games will be completed. Just wait and see, this is South Africa.’
Matches in South Africa were suspended almost two months ago and with the virus beginning to grip the country, if and when the season will continue remains to be seen.
