Tokelo Rantie training with Mamelodi Sundowns

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates forward Tokelo Rantie has been given yet another chance to prove himself after he started training with Bloemfontein Celtic.

At one stage Rantie was one of the jewels of South African football, plying his trade in the English Premier League with Bournemouth and starring for Bafana Bafana.

After falling out of favour with the English club, the striker had an ill-fated spell in Turkey before moving back to South Africa to join Cape Town City.

His time in the Mother City also didn’t last long as his contract was terminated due to weight and discipline issues.

Pitso Mosimane then decided to take a punt of the forward as he trained with Downs throughout pre-season. Rantie managed to impress Pitso and earn a three-year-contract at Chloorkop.

However, after just a few months Rantie went awol and subsequently had his contract cancelled by the Brazilians.

However, the talented footballer has now been handed another lifeline as the 29-year-old started training with Celtic on Tuesday morning under the eagle eye of coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

Celtic CEO Khumbulane Konco has since confirmed that the former Bafana star is training with the squad.

‘He only started training this morning [Tuesday],’ Konco told KickOff.com.

‘We all know what Tokelo is capable of doing on the field of play. We are going to look at him and we will take it from there.’
