Manny Pacquiao claimed a unanimous decision victory against Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The 40-year-old Filipino almost knocked down the 29-year-old American twice, in the seventh and ninth rounds.
Pacquiao won on all three judges’ scorecards – 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112 – to improve his career record to 61-7-2 with 39 knockouts.
He retained the lesser version of the WBA’s two welterweight belts and may have set the stage for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, who watched the bout from ringside.
‘I really don’t believe my career is over. I proved it in my last fight against [Lucas] Matthysee,’ Pacquiao said. ‘And now I prove it again at the age of 40.’
