Former Proteas spinner Paul Harris says he expects Mark Boucher to see out his contract as head coach of the national team.

Boucher had all disciplinary charges against him withdrawn by CSA on Tuesday.

“I look forward to continuing to focus on my job and to taking the Proteas men’s team to even greater heights,” he said at the end of a statement, suggesting that he would stay with the Proteas until the end of his contract, which expires after the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Harris, who Boucher used as a spin-bowling consultant during the 2019-20 Test series against England, expects that to be the case.

“I’m confident he’s going to see out his tenure,” Harris told Sport24. “If anything, Mark already showed throughout this whole dreadful saga that he’s fully committed to the Proteas.

“Throughout the months leading up to the disciplinary hearing, he held his head up high. He got on with his job and shut his mouth, never allowing himself to be drawn into making comments publicly.

“He’s probably going to be even more determined now, if that’s even possible,” Harris added.
