England won the toss and have sent Australia in to bat in a knockout clash for the visitors at Edgbaston.

Australia and England have gone to battle 136 times in ODIs, with the Baggy Greens leading the head-to-head by 80 wins to 51.

But it’s the World Champions who are the underdogs going into this match, against the favourite for the Champions Trophy.

This is Australia’s last attempt to make the semi-finals and they face an unbeaten England outfit in a do-or-die clash.

Group A is more straightforward than Group B, and with Bangladesh pulling off a magnificent victory against New Zealand to knock them out the tournament on Friday, the Tigers await a slip-up from the Aussies to take them through to the semis.

For Australia, the formula is simple. With England already achieving qualification, Australia must win to progress.

The Bermingham-based ground has not yet hosted a 2017 Championship Trophy match without rain interrupting proceedings.

Showers are expected in the morning as well as early evening, leaving enough time for a game to conclude, but if the match is rained out and ends in a no result, Bangladesh will progress to the semis. 

A win for England will be purely for momentum and to get one over their Ashes rival, without Australia having played a full match.
