Northerns CEO Jacques Faul has been appointed as the acting CSA CEO, effective immediately, while former ICC CEO Dave Richardson will be approached to possibly help out in the interim.
In a dramatic media briefing on Saturday, CSA president Chris Nenzani announced the appointment of Faul, while confirming that former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith had agreed in principle to be CSA’s director of cricket.

At the end of this past week, former CSA CEO Thabang Moroe was suspended amid a myriad of recent problems for CSA, including ongoing calls for Moroe and Nenzani himself to resign.
However, Nenzani moved to quell growing concerns around the state of SA cricket, and said that he had held talks with Moroe and that both agreed that he takes leave from the organisation.
Moroe will remain suspended for six months pending an internal review process that will be conducted by an independent authority.
Meanwhile, Richardson will be approached to see if he can lend a helping hand, but Moroe confirmed that he had already stated that he could not help on a full-time basis.
The CSA board will continue in its current capacity and will begin a nomination process to replace the independent board members that resigned this past week: Iqbal Khan, Prof Shirley Zinn and Dawn Mokhobo.
In addition, Nenzani said the members council had mandated the board to fix the relationship with Saca (South African Cricketers’ Association), particularly around the restructuring of domestic cricket.
‘We will engage the players so that we can have a common approach and common goal going forward. CSA and Saca need to get to a point where matters are dealt with,’ he added.
