Proteas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has reflected on reaching 100 wickets for South Africa in ODI cricket.
Ngidi has been ever-present in white-ball cricket for the Proteas and reached 100 wickets within 66 ODI matches, averaging 29.46.
The 28-year-old reached this feat when he bowled out Joseph Buttler in South Africa’s seven-wicket win over England in their final ICC Champions Trophy group stage match.
“It’s been something I’ve been thinking about for a while because it’s been lingering in my mind for the past couple of days,” Ngidi remarked.
“It felt like a weight off my shoulders because there is a lot of people back home know that I was on 99 so there was a lot of messages, ‘go get it, go get it’.
“But if it doesn’t happen its a bit of a disappointment, but I’m really happy it happened today.
“To get 100 wickets in ODI is an easy feat so I’m really happy with what happened today and hopefully many, many more in the future.”
100 ODI wickets and counting! 💯
