David Miller says he “can’t wait to play international cricket again” after helping the Gujurat Titans win the IPL title in their debut season.
The Proteas finisher scored 481 runs in 16 IPL matches at an average of 68.71 and a strike rate of 142.72. He hit two half-centuries, including an unbeaten 94.
“It’s everyone’s dream to win a World Cup,” said the 32-year-old, who has played in two 50-over and three T20 World Cups. “It’s definitely something I want to do.
“In terms of how long I want to play for, that’s far from my mind. I’m feeling really fit. There are three World Cups in the next two years, so I’m just really trusting that everything aligns like it did in this campaign.
“I really felt that at this last [T20] World Cup we were on that track, winning four out five and being unlucky not to go through [to the semi-finals]. I think it was the start of something special, with a lot of new players.”

With CSA having dropped its disciplinary charges against coach Mark Boucher earlier this month, the Proteas will arrive in India for a five-match T20I series fully focused on the cricket.
“Every team has its challenges,” said Miller. “But, in South African cricket, we’ve always been looked after extremely well. It’s something that I cherish, and I love playing for South Africa. What happens off the field is irrelevant and not the controllable that I want to get into and focus on.
“I’m looking forward to this series against India and can’t wait to play international cricket again,” added Miller, who had just landed in the Maldives for a well-deserved break.
