With the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League now indefinitely postponed, we take a look at the players who finished with the most runs and wickets.

Orange Cap (most runs):

Delhi Capitals skipper Shikhar Dhawan topped the list for the most runs before the competition was called off. The Indian opener amassed a total of 380 runs from his eight innings at an impressive average of 54.28. Dhawan struck three half-centuries in the process with a highest score of 92.

Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul finished with the second-most runs in the campaign – scoring 331 from his seven matches at an average of 66.20. Proteas batsman Faf du Plessis ended third with a total of 320 runs from his seven innings. Du Plessis was very impressive for a recharged Chennai Super Kings outfit, smashing his way to four half-centuries with a highest score of an unbeaten 95.

Purple Cap (most wickets):

Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Harshal Patel’s impressive performances with the ball had him ending the competition with the most wickets. Patel accounted for 17 breakthroughs in his seven matches, claiming brilliant figures of 5-27 in RCB’s clash with the Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Capitals quick Avesh Khan bagged 14 scalps from his eight matches, while South Africa’s Chris Morris also picked up 14 wickets in his stint for the Rajasthan Royals. Having played only seven matches, Morris showed his worth as an impactful all-rounder. His 4-23 against the Kolkata Knight Riders was particularly impressive from a bowling point of view.
