Jacques Kallis’ marvellous career will be celebrated at Lord’s after the third Test between England and South Africa at The Oval on 26 July. 

The Proteas all-rounder will receive a tribute commemorating his accolades during his 19-year-international career. England’s director of cricket Andrew Strauss and former England batsman Allan Lamb will be present, to laud the Proteas legend.

The occasion has been organised to raise funds for Lord’s Taverners (UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity) and the Jacques Kallis Foundation.

Kallis’ Test record is phenomenal, racking up 13 289 runs (45 centuries and 58 half-centuries) in 166 matches, boasting an average of 55.37. He is the third highest run-scorer in Tests, behind India’s Sachin Tendulkar (15 921) and Australian Ricky Ponting (13 378). He also took 292 scalps at an average of 32.65 and economy rate of 2.82.

In 328 ODIs, Kallis scored 11 579 runs at an average of 44.36, including 17 centuries and 86 fifties. He also took 273 wickets at an average of 31.79, conceding only 4.84 runs an over.

His T20 record stands at 25 matches, scoring 666 runs and taking 12 wickets.

The 41-year-old is the only player in history to score more than 10 000 runs and take more than 250 wickets in the Test and ODI format. He is also the highest run-scorer in South Africa’s history in Test and limited-overs cricket.

Since retiring in 2014, Kallis has played for and coached the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
