Uncapped spinners Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj have been named in the Proteas Test squad for next month’s three-match series against Australia.
The Proteas have gone 4-0 up in the series after a comfortable six-wicket victory against Australia at St George’s Park on Sunday.
The Proteas Women crashed from 115-5 to 115 all out, to lose to New Zealand Women by 12 runs in the first ODI.
The Highveld Lions thrashed the Cape Cobras by 10 wickets in their Sunfoil Series opener at the Wanderers.
Dané van Niekerk will lead the Proteas Women for the first time as the squad to face New Zealand was announced.
The Cobras now have on-field problems to go with their off-field problems, as they will open their Sunfoil Series campaign with a defeat by the time the morning session is wrapped up against the Lions on day three at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
David Miller struck 118 not out to inspire the Proteas to their first ODI series victory against Australia since 2009 at Kingsmead, Durban on Wednesday.
