Robin Peterson says the South Africa U19 players are keen to chalk up a second successive victory against West Indies in the second Youth ODI on Wednesday.
Peterson, a consultant for the hosts, said that the side has prepared well and is looking to build on their emphatic five-wicket victory, with 53 balls to spare, in the series-opener.
‘I think the boys have put in a magnificent effort in terms of their preparation. The guys are hungry to succeed and do well. The energy at training and the willingness to learn, as well as the keenness to improve on the first ODI victory is very impressive,’ Peterson commented.
Despite the convincing win, the former Protea expects the reigning world champions to bounce back and provide a stern test.
‘All bodes well going forward. I’m expecting a tight encounter in this game. But the guys have prepared well and they’re ticking all the boxes, so preparations have been perfect. Hopefully, they’ll be able to keep calm heads under pressure and get one over the Windies again,’ he added.
The series will remain in Pietermaritzburg for the next three matches, with the fifth and final game taking place in Durban.
