The Proteas Women thrashed Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Tuesday to progress to the Super Six stage of the World Cup Qualifier.
The Proteas Women have now coasted through to the next stage of the qualifying tournament and it will take something drastic for them to miss out on World Cup qualification from here, after topping Group B with their biggest win yet.
Victories against Pakistan, Scotland and Bangladesh were followed by a 10-wicket victory against the lowly Papua New Guinea side, as the bowlers shone once again.
The only partnership worth mentioning for the players from the Pacific was a 28-run stand between captain Brenda Tau (30) and wicketkeeper Pauka Siaka (17). No one else reached double figures.
There were two wickets apiece for Shabnim Ismail (2-13), Yolani Fourie (2-18) and Sune Luus (2-13) as they bowled out Papua New Guinea for 77.
The chase was clinically dealt with by Lara Goodall and Laura Wolvaardt. The pair hit 15 boundaries between them as they saw off the total inside 14 overs, with Goodall hitting an unbeaten 28 off 33 balls, while Wolvaardt finished on 43 from 52.
The Proteas Women will begin their Super Six stage on Wednesday when they take on India.
