Quinton de Kock has become the highest-ranked South African batsmen as he reaches a career-high sixth place in the ICC Test batsman rankings. 

The 24-year-old rose four places after his performance in New Zealand, where he scored 210 runs at an average of 52.5 which included two 50s.

The wicketkeeper-batsman now sits four above Hashim Amla (10th), six above AB de Villiers (12th) and 12 above his captain Faf du Plessis (18th).

De Kock is also ranked sixth and 23rd in the ODI and T20I batting rankings, respectively.

Australia captain Steve Smith remains at No 1, 61 points ahead of New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who has moved up two places to second following his 176 in the Hamilton Test against the Proteas.

South Africa have risen to second in the Test rankings after their 1-0 series win against the Black Caps.
