Cricket South Africa will reportedly employ former Proteas batsman and coach Gary Kirsten as a mentor to team director Enoch Nkwe.

Kirsten, who was head coach of India and South Africa, is currently working with the Durban Heat in the Mzansi Super League. He will be the head coach of the Welsh Fire in next year’s The Hundred – the England and Wales Cricket Board’s new limited-overs tournament.

He has worked with the Hobart Hurricanes in Australia’s Big Bash League and Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.

‘I’m always willing to help in whatever way possible but only if it’s done through a proper and sustainable process and not just a as quick-fix solution,’ Kirsten told Cricbuzz.

Late last week, the Titans’ Jacques Faul was appointed acting CEO of CSA. The appointment came after full-time CEO Thabang Moroe was placed on precautionary suspension.

‘I hope to meet with Gary during next week or call him. The director of cricket will also be in contact with him. Hopefully we can involve him. He has a lot to offer,’ added Faul.

Former captain Graeme Smith, meanwhile, has agreed in principle to fill CSA’s director of cricket position.
