Cobras speedster Dane Paterson has been called up to replace the injured Morne Morkel for the second Test against Bangladesh.
Paterson replaces Morne Morkel, who sustained a grade-two tear to the left abdominal oblique muscle during the 333-run victory at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Monday.
Proteas team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee explained the injury: ‘Morne complained of a sharp pain to his left side yesterday and immediately aborted his bowling spell. Subsequent scans this morning confirmed a Grade two tear to the left abdominal oblique muscle, which rules him out for the remainder of the series. He will need a 4-6 week recovery period and will target a return for the T20 Global League in November.’
Paterson has taken 285 wickets at an average of 23.24 and an economy of 3.14.
The squad will travel to Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
