The Proteas tour of England was dealt yet another blow on Friday after coach Russell Domingo had to return home, citing family reasons.

Domingo’s mother has been critically injured in a car accident while travelling alone in Port Elizabeth.

The Proteas have struggled thus far in England. A 2-1 ODI series defeat was followed by a premature exit from the Champions Trophy after the No 1-ranked side failed to make it out of Group B.

AB de Villiers and his side then fell to a nine-wicket defeat to England in the first of three T20Is on Wednesday.

The second match of the series takes place on Friday.
