Proteas captain Quinton de Kock has moved into the top 30 of the International Cricket Council’s rankings for T20I batsmen.

De Kock jumped from 49th to 30th position on the back of two half-centuries during the Proteas’ series draw with India recently. He hit 52 in Mohali and 79 not out in Bengaluru. This is De Kock’s highest T20I ranking in two years. He captained the XI in the absence of regular skipper Faf du Plessis.

Opening batsman Reeza Hendricks has moved to 12th position, flanked by the 11th-placed Virat Kohli and 13th-placed Shikhar Dhawan.

Du Plessis and fellow batsmen JP Duminy and Hashim Amla have all lost rankings points. Duminy and Amla recently retired from all international cricket. The hard-hitting Farhaan Behardien, who hasn’t played T20I cricket since November 2018, will soon be excluded from the top 100.

Seamer Andile Phehlukwayo, meanwhile, has retained seventh position in the rankings for T20I bowlers. He took one wicket, but conceded just 48 runs across seven overs in this month’s fixtures against the Indians.

Wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has moved up to 20th spot. Left-armer Beuran Hendricks and right-armer Kagiso Rabada have climbed to 55th and joint-57th position, respectively. Seamer Chris Morris and leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who did not play against India, have dropped to 24th and 28th, respectively.
