Colin Ingram’s 47-ball 101 was the fastest T20 century in Glamorgan’s history as they downed Sussex by 18 runs in the T20 Blast on Sunday.

Going into the clash, Glamorgan were seeking to bounce back after a disappointing opening 22-run loss to Hampshire. Glamorgan lost the toss and were invited to take first strike by Sussex.
The hosts’ innings was dealt two early blows after Aneurin Donald and David Lloyd both departed for just three to leave Glamorgan stuttering on 7-2 in the fourth over.
It was the South African pair of Ingram and Jacques Rudolph who set about resurrecting Glamorgan’s challenge.
The pair added 130 for the third wicket in 12 overs, before Rudolph fell just one run short of fifty (three fours, two sixes). Ingram continued on, and in the company of South African-born Chris Cooke he guided his side past 150.
Ingram was in a destructive mood, as his 47-ball knock included eight fours and seven sixes, which meant he had a mind-boggling strike-rate of 214.33.
Ingram’s record-breaking knock, along with Cooke’s 37 not out (four fours, two sixes) ensured Glamorgan completed a great recovery to post 198-3.
Sussex’s reply suffered untimely setbacks for much of their chase, and despite Luke Wright scoring a 101 of his own at the top of the order, which featured five fours and seven sixes, the visitors ultimately fell 18 runs short of an opening victory.

Lancashire vs Leicestershire
Elsewhere, Colin Ackermann was among the runs for Leicestershire. The visitors won the toss and elected to field. Lancashire posted a decent score of 173 thanks to a 48 from opener Liam Livingstone, as well as useful contributions by Jos Buttler (39) and Arron Lilley (30).
Cameron Delport (19) and Luke Ronchi (17) gave Leicestershire a lightning-quick start, passing 40 inside four overs. Both batsmen fell, however, in the space of three balls to leave the visitors on 42-2.
Middle-order batsmen Ackermann and Mark Cosgrove righted the ship for Leicestershire, seeing their side past three figures. When Cosgrove fell in the 11th over for 34, the hosts were back in with a chance.
A further three wickets threatened to derail their chase, but Ackermann batted superbly with the tail. He found the boundary with regularity, hitting six fours and two sixes for his 62 off 41 balls.
The match went down to the wire and Ackermann left his finest blow for last, a six off the final ball of the match which secured a nail-biting victory for the Leicestershire.
Durham vs Northamptonshire
Tabraiz Shamsi went wicketless in his debut for Northamptonshire in an opening seven-wicket defeat to Derbyshire. He returned a much-improved performance in his second match against Durham, picking up 2-20 as his side recorded a six-wicket win.
Sussex vs Leicestershire
Stiaan van Zyl enjoyed a superb game for Sussex in the County Championship. In the first innings, he batted well, striking nine fours in a knock that saw him depart one run short of his fifty.
He put the first innings disappointment to one side in the second innings, however as he played a terrific, unbeaten knock of 166. His 252-ball innings featured a staggering 24 boundaries, which helped Sussex post a daunting target of 424.
The Leicestershire chase flattered to deceive, as the top six all made starts, but failed to convert these to fifties and centuries. Jofra Archer dismantled the Leicestershire batting lineup as his 4-30 was the main contributor to an emphatic 231-run victory.
