Government is poised to take control of Cricket South Africa, which would result in an immediate ban from international cricket.
CSA has formally been given time until 5pm on 27 October by the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, to make representations on why the government should not intervene in the governing body.
In a media statement released by the ministry of sport, Mthethwa sent a letter to CSA acting president Beresford Williams to inform him that the only outcome may be for government to intervene in the operational mess that has brought CSA to the brink of complete collapse.

‘Having evaluated the discussions as well as the subsequent reporting on this matter, I have now reached a point where I see no value in any other engagement with CSA,’ said Mthethwa.
This comes after Sascoc also originally planned to intervene at CSA by launching their own 30-day investigation, which came to naught in the end.
Mthethwa also notified the International Cricket Council about the government’s plan to intervene, while CSA has been given the deadline to sort out a plan of action.
Should the intervention indeed take place, then CSA could very well be suspended by the ICC due to the organisation’s strict policy against government intervention from any cricketing nation.
CSA has yet to respond to Mthethwa’s statement.
