Proteas coach Ottis Gibson says they will assess the conditions in Johannesburg before settling on an eleven for the final Test against Australia at the Wanderers.
Among the fast bowlers, Morne Morkel started at Kingsmead but was replaced by Lungi Ngidi at St George’s Park, before making his comeback to claim his 300th Test wicket at Newlands.
Gibson felt that Ngidi did well in Port Elizabeth, as did Morkel after sitting out the second Test, and admitted that they could make another change at the Wanderers.

‘As we always do when we get a venue, we look at the composition of the team and the conditions and see which way we want to go. We’ve made a bowling change in every game, and in a three-man attack, it’s nice to freshen at least one bowler up,’ said Gibson.
‘We rested Morne in PE. Morne came back here in Cape Town and he was very fresh and bowled brilliantly. When Lungi missed out the first Test and played in the second Test, he also was fresh and bowled well, so we’ll see when we get to Joburg.’
The coach was also happy with the progress being made by 20-year-old all-rounder Wiaan Mulder, who is yet to feature in the series against Australia.
‘Wiaan Mulder is improving all the time and he will definitely come into the reckoning in Joburg. It’s his home ground and we could need another all-rounder and fourth bowling option. There are quite a few changes that we could make that could add value and strengthen the team.
‘Like I said, what we’ll do is we’ll have a look at the conditions, then we’ll try and pick the best team to win the Test match,’ said the coach.
