The Proteas’ grip on second spot in the ICC Test Rankings has weakened after their 2-0 Test series loss against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka gained six rating points to put them level with England on a rating of 97, although England have 3,772 points from 39 Tests compared to Sri Lanka’s 3,668 from their last 38 Tests.
South Africa slipped from 112 rating points down to 106, leaving them level with Australia in terms of their overall rating. South Africa stay in second spot by virtue of their 3,712 points from 35 Tests, compared to Australia’s 3,499 points from their last 33 Tests.
