Kagiso Rabada dropped to third on the ICC Test rankings, while Dale Steyn holds firmly onto eighth spot.
The 22-year-old was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja who reclaimed second position following his match figures of 5-84 against Sri Lanka, while Mitchell Starc moved up three places to 10th position after his match figures of 6-128 in the first Ashes Test.
There has been no major movement in the batting department. Smith’s unbeaten 141 against England, his 21st century in his 57th Test, saw him gain five points to rise to 941 points, making him joint-fifth in terms of the highest points tally in batting history in Tests behind Sir Don Bradman (961), Len Hutton (945), Jack Hobbs (942) and Ricky Ponting (942), and equal with Peter May (941).
India’s Cheteshwar Pujara has returned to number-two ranking after his 143 in his side’s huge victory by an innings and 239 runs in Nagpur.
Hashim Amla is the highest ranked SA batsman with 795 points, while Dean Elgar occupies 10th spot.
